Maison des Lilias inspired me to do a post about distressed interiors. Love those scritched walls (I made that word up) It means peeling paint and plaster to reveal all the beautiful hues underneath that had been the favorite color at one time of some unknown eye. Why do I long for that look....the walls hold secrets...shhhh

oh kim, hi! such lovely words from you... thank you. i'm the one who promised you stuff about gerpinnes, remember. i have NOT forgotten, but can i go slow? i guess that chest stays comfy where it is, no? i may pop into the national library one day to look things up. having said that, it could take me a while. still, dreaming, and planning, are fine things.
and actually also commenting your post now - yes! scratching ages or whatever away. lovely! you should go and see charleston farmhouse(uk). you would possitively love it. (but maybe you have been?)

Hiya- love the walls in this post, and yes you should try to take a peek at any internet or book photos of Charleston Farmhouse; we went there a few years ago and the way the light falls, and "dis-repair" of the interior is a scritchers dream (love the word).
Have posted some pics of Kit- but with a snake so be warned if you don't like them ;)

Hi Kim, yes i love distressed walls too but since we have wooden walls distressed just looks like "i don't want to paint anymore" (which actually is how we sometimes feel). It's interesting to think about seeing each layer and wondering who lived in the space at the time with that particular paint or wallpaper.
