Do You Think It Is Dead? Maybe It's Just Dying!
I went to get a battery for our cordless phone at Staples last night because try as I might I couldn't revive it~I actually blamed KennyRogersLookAlikeBeforeThePlasticSurgeryWentWrong for leaving it on like old people do. The sales guy looked at it and said "whoa I've never seen one like this before!". It was so old they didn't even make batteries for it any more! He slid open the battery case, which I struggled and even tried to pry it off with a pliers to no avail~and the battery acid got all over his hands. He said "Ma'am, (you know you're old when they say Ma'am) I'm going to wash my hands and dispose of this relic right away so it doesn't eat through everything in your purse. I suggest we look for a new phone for you immediately". "Do you think it's really dead? Maybe it's just dying?" "Ma'am, I truly believe it is dead".
Had to spend a little bit of money but got one with 3 extra hand sets for all my other 3 rooms of this tiny house!
I had to apologize to KRLABTPSWW for accusing him of being old and neglectful.

What My Grandma Was Like...
Adrielle and Rachel,
My grandma was a wonderful cook..wonderful roasts and mashed potatoes and angel food cakes..everything from scratch, the kind of food that made your tummy hurt after you ate because you ate so much..remember that feeling?
Her house was so neat and tidy, she even dusted the things in the attic..she never wore pants, always a house dress and hosiery. She 'creamed' her face with Lady Esther cold cream after their noon meal which was always eaten at 11am. Her dresser drawers were very tidy and fragrant of powder. Her lips always moved when she read the newspaper to herself. She taught me how to skip and jump rope well into her 70s.
When my children were born, I asked my grandma for the answer to any questions..I didn't call the doctor or look it up in a book..she always knew just what to do.
She shared the old family pictures and stories with me..my love of the past came from that sharing. I soaked up all I could of the stories but alas a few things were left untold or perhaps just were interrupted by chores that needed attention.
There are so many things I need answers for now.

Happy St. Patty's Day!
For 'tis green, green, green, where the ruined towers are gray,
And it's green, green, green, all the happy night and day;
Green of leaf and green of sod, green of ivy on the wall,
And the blessed Irish shamrock with the fairest green of all.
~Mary Elizabeth Blake
I remember when my cousin Kerry and I sat in the clover filled yard between my family home and our grandma's (his greatgrandma) house and we searched all day for a four leaf clover..I know we looked at every clover...did we find one...in our minds we did! Do you remember that, Kerry? We were very little and I think of you every St. Patrick's day because of that memory!
